About Our Pastors...

Pastor Jane (left) comes to Youth Ministry with 31 years as a Special Education Teacher. She has a vision for Youth Ministry that she calls "Family-Based." As a congregation we all covenant to teach Christian faith to "our" kids. We involve our children in the whole life of the church.
Pastors Steve and Donna Doan (center and right)are serving as Co-Pastors, sharing the duties of one full-time pastoral position. Together they have 44 years experience in ministry, with Steve having served as an Army Chaplain for 14 of those years. While both love all aspects of ministry, Donna tends to work more in administration and Steve in pastoral care.
All three affirm that Christ is at the center of our ministries...
That the Christian life is one of joyful service...
That Christ's fully-alive presence is with us always.
A Brief History...
First Christian Church of Troy was founded on July 6, 1856 with eleven people coming together and resolving to form a church body, known as the Church of Christ, taking their belief, that of Alexander Campbell, "Where the Bible speaks we speak, where it is silent we are silent." They met at the Universalist Church on Main Street until 1861 when the brick building on Second Street was completed. During the early years of the church the members felt the need for a Sunday school to train their young people and strengthen the spiritual growth of all members. The membership continued to grow and the original building was expanded. During the 1950's the church became associated with the Disciples of Christ, and adopted the name First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). By 1965 it was obvious the membership had outgrown the facilities and land was purchased on Boone Street. The first services were held in the new church home in March of 1971. Many changes began to take place, not only in increased attendance, but new spiritual growth. In 1987 the foyer was added and in 1991 the "Philomene Muck Fellowship Hall" was dedicated. As a result of these additions the classrooms were re-arranged and a library was added.
